TOWARDS THE COMFORT AND ATTRACTION OF URBAN-ENVIRONMENTS BUILT THROUGH ITS PUBLIC SPACES. DEVELOPMENT OF A METHOD OF DIAGNOSIS OF PUBLIC SPACES AND APPLICATION TO A CASE STUDY IN AN EXISTING URBAN ENVIRONMENT
This project’s general objective is to elaborate a method to diagnose the urban comfort level of an urban built environment. It has been developed following the open research path in two previous cross-border investigations - CUNA 1 and CUNA 2 - and has been completed with the state-of-the-art of the existing methodologies applied that aim at similar objectives.
Thus, DIA-CUNA completes and expands the work begun in CUNA 1 and 2 with a practical diagnostic tool that allows detecting the real problems of public space (through monitoring and simulations) and the demands of the inhabitants (through surveys and formalization of needs).
This methodology enables to identify the “vulnerable” areas from the urban comfort point of view and to carry out a specific diagnosis that leads to solutions that return the quality of life.
