DEVELOPMENT OF NEW DOMOTICS SYSTEMS THAT INTEGRATE INNOVATIVE SENSORS FOR ENERGY MANAGEMENT IN THE CONSTRUCTION SECTOR
The integration of domotics in energy management is limited by the types of sensors available on the market and the technologies used, since there is no system that allows for compatibility between sensors, the control system and the actuators (climate control systems). For this reason, the aim is to develop new sensors (wireless and fibre optic) and a domotics system that controls conditions in the home, making a rational use of energy and allowing renewable energy sources to be harnessed.
The purpose of this project is to develop sensors for temperature, humidity and possibly light intensity. By knowing the temperature and humidity of interior air we can make decisions regarding the use of the climate control system, thereby avoiding over-cooling or over-heating very dry / humid air and unnecessarily using energy. Furthermore, by knowing the humidity levels outside the building, irrigation systems can be activated in green areas when they are really needed and not using timers, as is currently the case. Finally, by using light intensity sensors, the intensity of artificial interior lighting can be graduated so that the desired intensity is always provided. All these actions can minimise the consumption of energy and also improve conditions of habitability by guaranteeing conditions of comfort at all times.
