BUILDING COVER AS A BIOCLIMATIC POWER PLANT. TOWARDS THE DEVELOPMENT OF MODULAR ROOFING SYSTEMS FOR ENERGY MANAGEMENT OF BUILDINGS

The project arises from the need to find a way to reduce energy consumption in the built environment through optimal management. The roof is the most exposed element, of a building’s thermal envelope, to the actions of solar radiation, wind and direct heat exchange with the celestial vault.

Tools for analysis and forecasting of energy behaviour have been sought for the development of an active roof that interacts with other building's systems and that provides energy to the building based on weather conditions and energy demand.
