Cizur Menor (Navarra)
 - 2006

The project is conceived as the complete refurbishment of an old sawmill, preserving its current structure and perimeter enclosure, which is materialized in two different treatments, interior and exterior. The exterior mainly values the volumetric characteristics of the building through a unitary and radical treatment that defines the new image of the building, clear and ordered by the careful dissection of the materials, which clearly contrasts with the confusing and neglected image of the previous building.

The treatment of the project seeks a rural but emblematic character, similar to the appearance of agricultural constructions that tend, due to their constructive logic and the use of a single material, to adopt the character of isolated objects. The use of a metal enclosure, on the façade and roof, superimposed on the current building confirms the project as an autonomous object in the landscape, while at the same time softening its impact by the soft reflection of the changing tones of the sky and vegetation.
